The Canadian E-Commerce Enigma
There is an interesting article on Emarketer regarding how our adoption of highspeed Internet access is among the highest in the world. (Canada ranks fourth.) We are also a leader in online banking. Yet, the uptake of e-commerce in Canada lags significantly behind our broadband adoption rate. Is it our cautious (passive Canadian) behaviour that makes us wary of online shopping? Is the industry to blame, with respect to the lack of Canadian e-tailing sites offering e-commerce options or the lack local products and services priced in Canadian dollars? We would be interested in hearing some of your reasons for eschewing e-commerce in favour of traditional means of purchasing.
