We provide expertise in the planning, development, and post-production stages of electronic information management. We develop user interfaces, information architectures, content structures, and metadata schema that are scalable, simple to use, and effective to extract information from the chaos of data.

XIST is a Canadian firm that provides full-spectrum informatics consulting services to a broad range of public and private sector organizations. We specialize in the deployment of Internet technologies to develop effective communication services and accessible information collections. And we provide these services at our site or yours. XIST can deploy large-scale applications and web sites from within our own production facilities but we also offer agency placement services of technology professionals to work with your team at your location for long or short-term requirements.

XIST consultants and partners have formal education and proven experience in the fields of library and information science, computer science, graphic design, marketing and commerce. We are trained professionals on the latest technologies and processes with a rigorous dedication to continuously upgrade our skills, knowledge and expertise. Federally incorporated in 1995, XIST Information Services and Technology Inc. (operating as XIST) was founded by three graduates of the Master of Library and Information Science program at the University of Western Ontario: David Jakob, Terry Kuny, and Chris Savage. A fourth owner and director, Tim Wayne, joined the company in 1999. With a corporate existence rooted in the discipline of library and information science, we approach our client's projects from a different perspective than the computer programming or advertising-driven Internet companies. We believe this difference reflects our strengths in the fundamental principles of information management, allowing us to bring to our clients' projects better, more efficient, and more manageable information products.

XIST moved into its present headquarter location at the corner of Bank St. and Gloucester St. in downtown Ottawa in 1999 and has recently completed renovations to better accommodate the 20 plus staff and contractors working for XIST.
